What Cricut blade cuts wood?
What is it? The Cricut Knife Blade is a tool you can use with your Cricut Maker that cuts through thicker and denser materials such as balsa wood, leather, matboard, and Cricut Chipboard easily.
What thickness wood can Cricut maker cut?
The Cricut Maker can cut pretty much any material less than 3/32 of an inch, or 2.4mm, thick. Its new knife blade is comparable to a super precise X-ACTO knife for your Cricut. Think mat board, thick leather, craft wood, and more!
Why won’t my Cricut maker cut wood?
If your material moves as it is being cut, your mat may not be sticky enough. If your material is not completely cut, your blade may need to be replaced. Occasionally, the machine may stop during the cut, but additional passes are still required. If this happens, follow the on-screen prompts in Design Space®.

Can a Cricut engrave wood?
The Cricut Maker can cut basswood, balsa wood, as well as wood veneer. I recommend the basswood for this project as it is a stronger wood and works best for engraving. I am using the Cricut basswood as it comes in the best sheet sizes. You can also look for 1/16″ basswood at your local craft and hobby store.
How small can Cricut cut wood?
Cricut recommends the knife blade for “moderate detail, no smaller than ¾””. My best rule of thumb is to not try to cut any shapes smaller than the width of a pencil eraser. Small pieces tend to break during the process.
