Why put a motorcycle on a stand?
A motorcycle center-stand is intended primarily for maintenance work, not for routine parking of a bike. It allows you to get one (or both) of the wheels off the ground to enable chain maintenance or removing one or both of the wheels. By default (on most modern bikes) it is the rear wheel that is lifted.
Is it safe to leave motorcycle on stand?
There’s nothing wrong with leaving your bike on the side stand as long as you do two things as a matter of habit. 1. Always put the bike in gear to prevent a tip over should someone bump the bike from the rear. The amount of over-center with the side stand is the big factor here.
Why put a dirt bike on a stand?
Putting your bike on the stand will keep your wheels elevated to avoid suspension and tire problems from long-term lack of use. A dirt bike stand also makes dirt bike maintenance much easier as it creates a raised, stable work area.
What can I use if I don’t have a dirt bike stand?
If you don’t want to lift your dirt bike onto the stand, you’ll need to use a lift stand. This is similar to a jack on a car. All you need to do is put the bike in place.
