How thick can wood be for Cricut maker?
The Cricut Maker can cut pretty much any material less than 3/32 of an inch, or 2.4mm, thick.
What kind of wood can the Cricut maker cut?
Denser than balsa wood, basswood has a smooth, even wood grain – an ideal surface for clean cuts to craft models, toys, puzzles, or even small gift crates. It can be painted and stained easily without having to seal it first.
What is the thickest wood a Cricut can cut?

Right now, the Cricut Maker has qualified 1/32″ and 1/16″ balsa wood, so make sure you’re looking at those thicknesses. Try and find the most even, defect-free balsa wood as possible.

The Cricut Maker can cut basswood, balsa wood, as well as wood veneer. I recommend the basswood for this project as it is a stronger wood and works best for engraving.
